On 13-4-2021 we wrote about a bill regarding the widening of the current temporary rental agreements for up to 2 years (Model B). It would then become possible to extend the maximum rental period of 2 years one more time. Instead of a permanent contract, tenants could then - within a period of three years - be offered another temporary contract. A temporary contract of up to two years could then be extended by up to one year, for example. In addition, a fixed minimum rental period could be agreed upon for the landlord, which is currently not the case.
But that extension is off the table! Minister Kajsa Ollongren (D66) scraps the article of the law that would give landlords more room for temporary rental agreements.
A missed opportunity, both for landlords who cannot or do not want to rent indefinitely and who would thus have more opportunities. But certainly also for tenants who are now sometimes forced to look for another home after 2 years.
